Anyway, Wednesday was filled with an uneventful movie (Alvin and the Chipmunks) and trip to Chuck E Cheese (thank goodness he was asleep the whole time we were there), but Thursday got the real fun going with Fox’ first trip to the beach. He actually did fine, but I think he was a little bit chilly (there was a pretty cool breeze and I didn’t bring a lot of warmth). That just means I got to sit in my beach chair holding a sleeping baby for a couple of hours – not a bad way to spend the day.
The water felt freezing to me, but the kids were body surfing, boogie boarding and just downright having a good time with their friends and I got to chat with my friend, Melissa - success.
We had an unfortunate poop incident (Fox, of course) just as we were leaving the beach which did mar the memory of the day just a little bit and unfortunately, I let the older girls coordinate their own sunscreen again (they have done ok in the past). This time they both didn’t do each other’s backs, so they got totally FRIED which makes me feel like a complete failure as a mother (unfortunately it has happened before). This time my guilt was totally compounded by the fact that we were going to Palm Springs and I knew we were going to be in the sun even more!
I'll admit I didn't think taking Fox on his first road trip to someplace that is ridiculously hot in summer was a great idea (Robie wanted to go to celebrate his 35th birthday which is TODAY) but I've got to admit we had a great 2 days! It was cool by Palm Springs standards (barely 100), and the girls had SO much fun. Mostly they just wanted to play on the slides/pool and hang out at the resort. Ashley honed her skills on the big slide, which helped her pull out a victory (ok, there were 3 winners, but still) in the splash contest (notice the tuck for the cannonball at the bottom)
Robie was a little nervous about his collar bone on day 1, but he just couldn't take it anymore and by the second day he was helping them take their sliding skills to the next level.
Lauren even hit a real milestone, since she is now totally swimming on her own. After her swim lessons, she was swimming, but was still not willing to jump into the pool or swim long distances where a breath was involved. By the end of our trip she was going down the little slide by herself and swimming all the way to the side... you go girl. I thought Brooke and Ashley were going to freak when Robie told them he would take them to the pool at 8:30 at night - party time! Good times had by all....

Don't be to hard on yourself. Ask your Mom about things that didn't always work out the way they were suppose to when you were a baby. Great pictures. Tell Robie his card is on the way and little Fox's gift is with it.
I'm sure it felt great to get away for a little bit. Palm Springs was all Ash was talking about Sunday:)
That sounds like so much fun! All great pics! I especially love that picture of Brooke holding Fox. He is a doll. I'm glad mom could come down to help out. Isn't she the best?!
Oooh that baby is yummy. I keep forgetting to take a picture of him.
You look great girl!
What a great re-entrance into the world!
