Homemaker

I know it's a long way off, but if Fox keeps it up he is going to be an awesome dad and husband.  He is obsessed with doing everything himself, which includes, but is not limited to:  putting on his own shoes, getting his own drink (he would love to be able to pour his own milk), breaking his own eggs for his breakfast, ironing (honestly, I don't know where he got that from since I don't every iron!), taking all of my pans out to "make dinner", sometimes even making dinner on the ironing board announcing, "don't touch, it's hot", and I think I've mentioned his blender issue in which he is regularly making smoothies out of legos/shoes/socks/blocks/toys/whatever!

It's really quite darling most of the time (like when I took these pictures), except for sometimes.  Like this morning.  We were going to the temple with Robie's cousin that was being sealed to her husband and children.  Fox was just going to play outside with Jani and Robie's cousins older children.  No problem.  But he didn't want to leave our house.  Why?  Because I made the mistake of musing aloud (this happens often) as I put on his shirt, "ooh, we should iron your shirt before we go".  Of course, this was 30 minutes prior to leaving, before he had a dirty diaper, a tantrum over not being able to take any medicine (don't ask), another tantrum because I wouldn't hairspray his hair.  Needless to say, I didn't get a chance to do ironing and when we were finally downstairs it hit me that Fox wasn't thinking I meant that I was going to do the ironing.  He assumed I meant that HE would do the ironing with his little ironing board.  So he grabbed that thing with a death grip in an attempt to take it with us... I would have probably just let him take it with us, but I couldn't even get him through the door with it, so as I had to wrench it from his poor little hands and threw it back in through the closing door.  So much sadness, so little time.

Great story Michelle! He is such an independent little guy. One of my boys once completely embarrassed me in front of my in-laws when he saw their ironing board/iron and asked "What is that?"
