Although we've been back from our trip for over a month, a lot of the things that Fox refers to still have revolved around our recent trip to Hawaii. Besides going to school, he talks A LOT about riding in airplanes or on the Sugar Cane Train. We were driving on the freeway the other day and he said, "If you see a plane landing, just stop and I'm going to get out." What?! We were driving on the 15 past Miramar, and if you have driven on that road you know there are occasionally planes that buzz past, but I have never seen one land on the freeway and let someone get in. We discussed this and he just nonchalantly insisted that they may do just stop, and if they do, we should let him out because he really wants to go on another plane to Hawaii (join the club, dude). Anyway, we also saw a lot of helicopters when we were on vacation (the airport that was by us had helicopters flying in and out) so we had talked there about how neat it would be to ride in a helicopter. Now anytime we see one flying over head he has to remind me ,"I'm going to take a ride in a helicopter." Someday, he will, I'm sure.
All this plane talk was only exacerbated when his grandpa took him to the Air Show at Miramar this weekend. Now all he can talk about is the Blue Angels while he "vrooms" his airplanes around.
Of course, grandpa bought him a few toys - an inflatable plane and a few planes with stands. He loves them all. I forgot how much the loudness of the planes can freak out the little kids, but he made sure grandpa knew so soon enough he had the snazzy headphones to block out the sound and he was all pumped up. He hasn't taken his airshow shirt off yet!
Robie was actually really sad he was not here to go with them - he was in Hawaii, but this time working at the Ironman and Lauren actually cried real tears (as opposed to the fake sadness that she portrays a lot) that Fox went while she was at school and she didn't get to go. We missed it last year, too, so we promised her we would make it work next year!
