Today was another beautiful day low 80's?- after cooking our dinner on the grill it was actually still warm enough to eat dinner outside (we do that a lot in the summer). It was fun because the girls were the ones that really wanted to do it, so they even cleaned the table off for us so we could make it happen. Robie told me today he wants to return to big Sunday dinners (i've been getting a little lazy) since that is the only day he is really home early enough to enjoy a good dinner - too bad he told me that this morning, so I was a little short on planning time and ingredients, but we made it work. Then while Robie was finishing up the laundry (I did help put my own clothes away at least) we let the girls have a little movie night and it warmed my heart to see Brooke holding on to Lauren like I usually do - so cute

So stinking lucky!
This weekend just reminded me of how lucky we are to live where we do. My parents have been reminding me a lot how cold it is in Utah lately (apparently there was some thing put
out by the fire department that people need to clean off teir fire hydrants because they are buried in too much snow) when I've been mentioning how "cold" it is here because it has been in the 60's and it has been raining a lot, which is usually a rarity. Anyways, the weather was back to warm this weekend and was so nice - We played tennis with the kids, Laura and I ran our 7 miles (might have been a little nicer earlier in the day because it was seriously really hot), then Robie and I went with the kids to the beach. There was a brisk breeze at the beach, but it was still pleasant and the kids didn't seem to mind at all. Robie and I just sat and relaxed (well, I read about 5 magazines - thanks Melissa) and the kids just played. There were tons of rocks so Brooke and Ashley wer
e trying to find the biggest ones they could and then dragging them all into one big pile. Lauren was mostly just digging in the sand making us "cookies" and other treats. So fun! After running a couple quick errands, Robie took the girls to the Daddy/Daughter dance at the school. The theme was Pirates/Mermaids so of course the girls wanted to be pirates - I"m not going to lie, Robie was NOT looking forward to it,
but he does love dancing and ended up having a great time - the girls were SO pumped. I mean, as they put it "mom, they played the macarena" among other highlights. While they were at the dance I happened across some old friends (the Dickmans) on a home improvement show I had heard they were going te be on. It was so funny to randomly see them on tv - their yard did turn out great! I'm a little hurt they didn't mention me at all.. oh well :) On the way home I heard Brooke and Ashley in the back seat say, "Lauren don't lick your feet." I look back and she was totally licking the bottom of her feet (that were covered in sand and grossness), so I was trying to get her to stop and said she might have bird poop on them so that was really gross and then she was so grossed out that she was trying to get me to clean them off while we were driving. Apparently stretching the truth for your own gain is not a great idea with a 2 year old.

Sandy feet, YUM! Why is it they'll eat that but, not a vegetable.
Gotta love the beach and the weather is worth the price!!
That is hilarious. I saw that home improvement show and thought hey that name isn't that common, but what are the chances. Haha.
We are completely spoiled with this weather. Growing up here I never realized how wonderful it was until I spent one winter in Utah. I am a Cali girl through and through!
