I love the beach! It has been pretty hot here, so I took the kids to the beach this afternoon. I'm not going to lie, they did
n't even want to go. When they found out that none of our friends or cousins could go they were not feeling the beach vibe, but after I revealed my Cheetos, Goldfish AND Cheesy Pringles, along with 2 kinds of candy that I picked up for snacks, they warmed up to the idea. Of course, once we got there I could not get them to leave. I figured we would last a couple hours, but I was dragging them out 3 1/2 hours later and they were wondering if we could go back tomorrow (a possibility :)). I figured the water was too cold, so I only brought one boogie board and I forgot the blanket (I went minimal on the prep) so all we had were our towels to lay on but we still had so much fun. I got to relax and catch up on all my backlogged Newsweek magazines. At one point, Ashley yelled over from digging her hole in the sand and said, "Mom, are you liking being alone?" It's true, I was.. it was so quiet and relaxing and they were having fun. I didn't even feel guilty about it because I knew I was going to have to clean up all the sand later (and they were SO sandy). I do sort of wonder why a place that inspires people to wear minimal clothing also inspires me to eat Cheetos and Pringles, though. We also brought home as many rocks as the girls could fit into our buckets - I don't know why they are so obsessed with the rocks, but Brooke just loves to analyze the different shapes and the coral bits and pieces. I even let the kids eat dinner on my bed while watching tv after they got cleaned up - party time!

Wow, I would have dragged out some cousin support had I know about the cheesy Pringles--it's been too long. The news tonight said water temp is definitely up and I do LOVE the beach (when not being lazy in a non-beach way)--keep up the good posts, at least I can live vicariously on lazy days.
What a great afternoon! Tell your girls I can totally relate. I usually don't want to go to the beach, but I always love it once I'm there. I also love to collect rocks, shells & bits of sea glass. I even have a few in my purse as reminders of walking on the beach with my husband.
Oh, that's what Lincoln wanted to do today, but I opted for the museum.
Hooray for beach weather!!!Oh yeah, this summer will be fun! Your girls are total beach babes!
Great pictures! I love the one of Lauren. They were seriously sandy! Newsweek! Impressive, I would have been reading people or Us magazine. I can't resist Who wore it best.
