Dinner Time

One of the things I am realizing about parenthood is that success is in the little things. We have had success in a little thing - Lauren has eaten dinner 3 nights in a row! This may not seem like an accomplishment, but she decided a couple of months ago that she did not like what I made for dinner. So every night we sit down to dinner and Brooke and Ashley eat, Robie eats, I eat, and Lauren just looks at her food and says, "i no like it" or "not eat it, that gross (or ucky, or ew)". Then she would proceed to ignore her plate until we are all done (possibly eating one side item if it is a good fruit). She begged for popcorn chicken, we tried enticing her with ice cream treats, whatever we could - nothing. Anyway, long story short (too late) she ate dinner - pork chops, of all things and then stated, "this good" in a surprised voice, like she had been convinced I was trying to poison her and realized dinner was, in fact, not horrendous. So I served pork chops again the next night and tonight she ate sliced turkey at Submarina. I'm not sure if she finally connected that the other girls get a treat every night after dinner or that she was just sick of being hungry all night - I sure hope this lasts!

Not successful would be me putting Lauren down for a nap, going out to do yard work and her taking her clothes and diaper off (and the sheet off her bed, which she is really enjoying doing right now) and coming downstairs and out to the patio and then taking care of "business" on the back patio then coming over to me in the yard and declaring, "I AWAKE" while wiping nasty brown stuff from down below onto her naked chest. That is when I looked around the yard and thought, "so who's going to take care of that?" yeah, I guess that was me...

I so don't miss those kind of potty messes. Obviously, I am back. We got in last night. I will be posting new pictures soon. I have to weed through the mass of them.

I have to be honest, you're kind of freaking me out for motherhood. I'm glad I'm starting with one. That picture of Lauren totally looks like you twins and Kath in your younger years. I seriously would love to see a side by side. I've heard of poop up the back but poop on the back, crazy!!

Methinks you should be happy the finger painting was on the chest and not the COUCH! Quick shower from the garden hose may curb her desire to finger paint in the future! I don't miss those days--glad you shared so that we could laugh! :-)

hari totally tortures me with his "No, don't make me angry" comments at dinner (like I'm making him angry for forcing him to eat) and with geoff out of town we did eat marshmellows for breakfast yesterday. and yes, several weeks ago i had to clean poo off the floor because he didn't make it. LOL, can laugh now that the floor has been professional cleaned.
