Ups and Downs

This week has been full of ups and downs. It seems like the ups are all Christmas related. We did a little Christmas Carol singing to friends while we took little treats around - the girls all loved it - they even got up the nerve to try their favorite Christmas song from the Chipmunks for Diane with Robie acting as Dave (the chipmunk dad whose name Diane and I could not remember for the life of us). Lauren has been asking ever since then when she gets to go caroling again, which reminds me of how when we were going to the old folks home she just kept asking, "do you have my microphone?".. maybe there is a budding superstar in there. We've also had fun making cookies, sitting by the fire eating popcorn (ok, the house smelled horrible because the smoke from the duraflame was weird - but it was still fun), picking out gifts for people (yes, this means I finally started with my shopping) and a little relaxing. I'm not sure whether to list the rain as an up or down. It has been a nice change, but there is a serious flood in my backyard. The kids were excited for about a day to wear warm clothes, then Ashley had to find a way to wear her boots without having to wear a pair of jeans again. I think I'll still count the rain as an up since it gave us the chance to have hot cocoa with fresh whipped cream after school :)

On the downside is mostly today and mostly Lauren. Let me start by saying that Poison Control is very helpful - no judgements just answers. But on to the details - first she wrote on her brand new (last night) boots with marker. While I'm cleaning that off, she takes an ink thing and blots it on the carpet a few times leaving big red marks. After I get out of the shower I find open containers from cough and cold medicine - 4 of them! Thankfully Poison Control put my mind to ease that she could not even have ingested toxic amounts even if she ate the whole box - whew! Meanwhile, she is out wandering around in the rain and breaking the heads off the sugar cookies for her class (accidentally)

- after she spilled water all over the floor, of course. For those who don't know our schedule - she did all this before going to school at 11:15 - SERIOUSLY!

We really have had a good week - but this morning, WOW.

The rain is definite an "up" moment in my book. I'm so glad Lauren is okay. Just reading the words "poison control" made me panic just a bit!

It's a good thing they're so darn cute! Remind me to tell you our poison control story sometime. It even involved an ambulance bill!

Wow....I am glad everything turned out alright. It is amazing what they can accomplish in such a short amount of time. Hopefully today will be all ups for you!

Okay, it sure sounded like you were describing my Mackenzie when you were talking about Lauren. We better watch out if the two ever get together.

Oh this post makes me appreciate my one child that can't even crawl yet. That Lauren sounds like trouble. Or probably just a 3 year old. :-) I'm excited to see you guys! And even more excited that I don't have to work while your here. Yeah for not working!!!

I just can't picture little Lauren getting into all that trouble.

When it rains it pours... unfortunately, this seems both metaphorical as well as physical in the most recent regards. I'm glad everyone is still okay.

Ah, how cute! (I'm being sarcastic, of course.) At least she looked good doing it. She is one beautiful little girl.

Wow, toddlers are such hard work. I feel for you, but seriously with as cute as Lauren is you just can't be mad at her!
