Serendipity

What the heck with the weird weather today?  We were swimming at the neighbors when weird GIANT raindrops started falling.  It was real rain!  Of course this was the one day this week when we had plans outside besides swimming (and that's wet already right?)  Robie was coming down to watch Brooke play a scrimmage against another soccer team straight from work and we would meet him back there after picking up the other girls from swim.  The original plan did not involve rain, or thunder or lightning.   Alright, I'm being a little dramatic adding in the thunder and lightning since it all did seem quite far away, but they did close the pool the girls were swimming at just as they were getting out anyway, due to a "recent lightning strike in the area."  Weird.
Anywho, prior to the onset of the weird weather I took a while this morning making Robie and Brooke's favorite pasta salad (it's labor intensive, but thank you Tina for the best recipe ever), so we could have a little picnic at the park after the scrimmage, so I packed the food up and the kids were excited, so we were committed.  I'll admit I wanted to ditch out, but the kids were having none of it, so we stuck with it.
Also not in the original plan - eating off of Frisbees.  What are the chances I would have 3 frisbees in the car when I forgot the plates?  it was serendipity, I tell you!  (Actually, I was concerned I was using that word serendipity incorrectly, so I looked it up, and the definition is quite perfect: 1.The faculty of making fortunate discoveries by accident.

2. The fact or occurrence of such discoveries.
3. An instance of making such a discovery.) this one for sure.

I haven't made that salad in forever! Thanks for the reminder! And I must admit, the recipe originally came from Amy C.
Yum!

I must admit that we own no Frisbee that I would eat off of! Ingenious tho! The afternoon thunderstorm reminded me of my childhood in Virginia. Despite the hot days, the warm nights are really great!
