Every President's Day, our kids school district schedules the kids for a week off of school. I swear, it feels like it has been one break after another since Christmas break - rough life these kids have! Since they are home, I always feel like we should be doing all the fun things we can't do when they are in school, but you know what they really want to do? Hang out at home, make forts, watch tv, ride their bikes, blah, blah, and go swimming. We went to a movie with Robie since he had a day off earlier in the week, but then I dragged them to Sea World on Wednesday (I know, I'm such a mean mom!) Ashley and Mia had a great time; Brooke, Josh and Tyler were not really caring about any of it (can you say, "apathetic preteen"), and Lauren was freaking out at every opportunity - first, she was bored waiting for Ashley and Mia to come off the rides, then she was freaking out because she wanted to ride another ride, then she wanted to go to the Kids Play Zone. Anyway, I wouldn't say the day was a total bust, since it was a beautiful day, but it was definitely a frustrating one for me that ended in me dragging Lauren out screaming bloody murder. One of the highlights was definitely the sheer joy Fox had on the little kiddie ride. He was seriously loving it!

So then today I told the kids we could do whatever they wanted, which of course means that they wanted to go swimming. I was actually feeling a little under the weather, so I wasn't really feeling like taking them anywhere, but it was 80 degrees and I knew they really wanted to go. When I got there, it was actually pretty sweet, since I basically just laid there on the pool deck taking the occasional picture and basking in the sun. Fox was cracking me up because he wanted to use the kickboard to "surf". He kept talking about how he was going to go surfing and trying to stand up on it. Since he was in the shallow end, we didn't want him to have the board go flying out from under him and then fall on his head, so we (Brooke and I) encouraged him to just boogie board with the board underneath him.
I still took a nap when we got home, of course. :)

fun! except for the screaming that's never fun.
Looks like it was a perfect day. Glad you have good weather.
How did we miss you, we were at Sea World on Wed. too. We should have coordinated better! It was a beautiful day, you are so brave to take all those kids! And I agree, I think there have been about 2 full school weeks since November.
