It was Easter today. The Easter bunny did come this morning - we have gone back and forth about this for a few years with wanting to be more spiritual and focusing on the real meaning of Easter balanced with the "what does the Easter bunny even mean?" situation. But the tradition of the hidden baskets with string to find them always wins out. The kids love waking up and following their string to their baskets. Robie got a little frustrated with Fox this year because he just didn't get it. When Robie said, "follow the string - watch your sisters, see how they follow the string?" he just stood there staring and then headed straight over to destroy the different sister's string. Maybe next year for him. The girls had all new dresses that Marianne bought for them - of course, they couldn't all agree to a picture at the same time. First Fox didn't want to do it, then when he would do it then Lauren didn't want to do it and the few times I had them all together I took a blurry shot. Good times for that.
We had quite a busy morning - Robie was singing in church so when he had to go practice for singing, I had to finish up the waffles from "Waffle Sunday," finish my lesson (taught in Relief Society today), finish the Monkey Bread (it's like a roll, which, for the record, turned out delicious) for the family Easter dinner and get everyone ready for church by 1030. Oh, and try to maintain a loving Christ-centered home. I accomplished almost all of that. Really, though, Robie did a great job on his singing and we had some great time to talk to the girls about the real meaning of Easter and Christ's resurrection on the way up to Ramona. Usually we kind of tune out but we actually talked to the kids this time! That reminds me of a funny story that happened yesterday. We were trying to figure out the meaning of the eggs for Easter and so I told Lauren that eggs are a sign of being born (like a chick from an egg) so they stand for Christ's resurrection because he was "born again". She looked at me a little bit confused and said, "But Jesus didn't come out of an egg, right?" Yes, that is correct. Symbolism is a little much for this 6 year old.
