Road Trip!

Robie and his friend, Tom, ran the St. George Marathon on Saturday so we took a fun road trip for the weekend. The weather forecast showed a chance of rain, so we did came prepared, with the idea that we wouldn't really need to worry about it. But it actually rained all day, with a pretty strong headwind THE ENTIRE RACE! The race starts in the dark and we rolled in right before the start but both their shoes and their visors were soaking in the first 5 minutes - next time we'll figure out a way to make shoe covers :)The rain did make it interesting for the spectators, but they were both running so fast, we didn't have long to wait...
The best part about going to watch the guys race this weekend was that most of my family met us so we could have a mini-family reunion for a couple of days (ok, a day and a half but who's counting?). You would think that we were there for like a week with all the things the kids were able to squeeze in... watched movies, colored together, Courtney even taught Brooke how to use one of their toys:

But once the rain cleared out, the kids got even more brave and their favorite thing was just wandering through the open field with the horses, they were even rewarded with finding a few old horseshoes.

As usual for us, SAFETY FIRST!

Maybe living out in the middle of nowhere wouldn't be so bad after all....
