Old rules

Today reminded me a little of when I was younger. I remember a time when my mom had a "can't wear shorts until it's 70 degrees outside" rule, which I assume she incorporated because we kept trying to wear shorts during all seasons in Utah (with socks and shoes of course). I, on the other hand, allow shorts at all season - I mean, nowadays you can just wear your UGG boots with them and you're warm anyway, right? (and by "you" I mean seriously someone besides me). So anyway, today my kids decided it was plenty warm for swimming in the backyard - when I checked it was 78 outside - and although I think this is generally below my acceptable "swimming temperature" I was in just the mood to go along with it. Now, I wasn't in a good enough mood to cart warm water from the tap out there, so they just got the nice cool water straight from the hose, but they didn't complain at all (mostly because they are smart enough to know that would lead to not doing it again) and made it a fun afternoon - even if they did bring a bunch of grass into the house when it was over!

I can't wait until its real swim weather again! Although, here in the George we go from moderate to insanely hot in the matter of minutes- so I guess Ishould just enjoy the spring breeze while it lasts...
An upside to it getting a bit too warm here= an excellent excuse to crash at my parents. Long live Southern California!!!
