So helpful

I had a funny memory today of when we (me and my siblings) used to go to my Grandma Sebek's house in Brigham City, Utah. When we went back a couple of years ago, I realized it was actually a VERY small 2 bedroom bungalow, but they had a huge yard with a sweet playhouse on the side and a giant (i would say ginormous, but that word wasn't introduced when i used to hang out at Grandma's house, so it wouldn't be right as a description for something there, right?). Anyway, my memory from today was that we used to LOVE doing the dishes there. We would fight over who got to wash and who got to dry and sometimes we would switch in between. I think mostly it was me and Jenn, but the others might have gotten into the action, too. I don't even think she was bribing us - i think we just geniunely wanted to do it. Anyway, Lauren reminded me of this today when she INSISTED on helping me with the laundry and I think she was honestly enjoying herself. First she loaded up the basket with me (one white item at a time for her), then she helped me lift them up into the washer - even noting that the clothes were heavy as she tried to push 5 things up and over the edge of the washer at the same time. I'm not going to lie, it didn't exactly speed the process up, but it did keep her busy and I did get the laundry in... I wonder if that's how Grandma felt - we probably took forever and made a huge watery/soapy mess, but it did keep us busy and got the job done :) I wish I could find a picture of their old house... gotta go search for that!

I remember washing dishes and looking out the window to that big tree. Sometimes Kath would climb on that roof that extended from the kitchen and make faces at me while I worked inside.. I remember loving it also. Do you remember the awesome feeling of getting out of the bath when she had that old small space heater on..oh man that was my favorite!

yah, you're a better mom than me. i'm not patient enough and normally do a lot of suggesting of other things they can do instead and come up with really great reasons how that we would be more helpful. sometimes it works.
