Ouch

Running is lame. Running races is really lame. Your training buddy being way faster than you is really, really lame. Doing your best and finishing a 15k in 1:35 is not lame. Go me!

Summary of the day: Start race (Robie brings girls down to watch - they cheer loudly). Race starts while Laura and I are in the no toilet paper bathroom. Tom Naylor runs backwards, circles, forward and back to take fun pictures and keep us motivated. Training buddy and awesome friend, Laura, keeps me motivated and entertained for the first 10k of the race (thanks!). Spend last 5k of the race looking for people to pass so I can get some motivation. Our other friend, Rebecca ran with us for almost 5k and was way faster than she thought she would be. Finish race.

Bring kids home, start yard work - neighbor, Robb, says he is going to meet a friend who has a horse - can't turn down the google eyes from the girls who want to go see a horse, so wash my face, change my clothes and load up. Hang out with our horse friend, Charlie. Brooke gets to ride, but the other girls had to wait until next time because he didn't have a helmet that would fit them. Brooke immediately asks me to sign her up for horseback riding lessons ($30/lesson). Take kids to McDonalds to play for lunch (I mean, if they are going, we have to go, right?).
Home again, more yard work, kids playing in our sprinklers and the neighbors inflatable pool, a visit from Nani, an American Idol draft, pizza with friends, and now I am too tired to sleep and I think my legs are starting to tighen up a little- along with feeling totally sick to my stomach for drinking too much after the race (thanks to the organizers for putting 3 whole aid stations out with plain water only). I think I'm going to sleep in tomorrow!

I feel your pain...No sleeping in over here though. I think we both did awesome. Let me know if you can get those pictures from Costco.

Way to go!!! You are motivating me to think about racing again. I hope that you did indeed sleep in!

Seriously. I wish some of your 'enthusiasm' had spilt over before I left!

Hmm...it may be just as well. It's too cold to run in Utah, right?!

Awesome I love the pics of you and Laura.Does it feel great to finish? I can't wait to finish. I'm not so sure about starting but finishing sounds amazing. Are you gonna keep on running?

I will keep on running, but I won't like it :) I think i'll stick to shorter runs and get back on my bike since I really like riding my bike a lot more, keep running, though!
